Boothe, Mundelein roll in sectional quarterfinal

Allie Boothe fired in 7 goals to lead Mundelein’s top-seeded girls water polo team to a 19-5 win over No. 8 Vernon Hills in quarterfinal action of the Mundelein sectional Wednesday.

Karrie Kozokar added 4 goals and Courtney Perreault had 3 for Mundelein, which advanced to Friday’s 4:30 p.m. semifinal against No. 5 Libertyville.

Lauren Wood scored twice for Vernon Hills.

Libertyville 9, Palatine 8: At Mundelein, the fifth-seeded Wildcats received 3 goals apiece from Devika Joshi, Katie Ahlgrim and Sarah Durning in the sectional quarterfinal.

Libertyville will play No. 1 Mundelein at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the sectional semifinals.

Stevenson 15, Lake Forest 2: At Mundelein, the second-seeded Patriots cruised in their sectional quarterfinal, as Brittany Gartenberg, Melissa Gartenberg, Alex Kanaris and Bridget Wynn each had 3 goals.

Allison Travetto netted a pair of goals, while Alexa Kotlyar also scored. Goalies Becky Callen and Lauren Burns had 10 and 3 saves, respectively.

Stevenson advanced to the sectional semifinals and will play No. 3 Wheeling at 5:45 p.m. Friday.
