Buffalo Grove shuts out Rolling Meadows

Buffalo Grove protected the unbeaten start to its season by delivering a 3-0 victory over host Rolling Meadows in Mid-Suburban East girls soccer action Friday.

The Bison got goals from Colleen Zickert, Sara Busse and Jessica Kovach and assists from Kovach, Skylar Groth and Jessica Ahumada.

Sarah O’Connor split time with Kirsten Erickson in goal to share credit for a shutout at Buffalo Grove improved to 11-0-1 heading into today’s 5:15 p.m. Pepsi Showdown semifinal against New Trier.

Schaumburg 1, Fremd 1 (2 OT): Both teams scored first-half goals before playing scoreless the rest of the way in MSL West action at Schaumburg.

Brooke Molitor assisted on Jenna Eaken goal for Schaumburg to open the scoring, and Fremd tied it when Michelle Mottonen scored with an assist from Cassie Etelemaki.

Christine Piasecki stopped 11 shots from Fremd, and Tressa Palcheck made 5 saves for the Saxons.

Palatine 3, Hoffman Estates 0: Senior Jessica Malak and juniors Morgan Radtke and Erin Mayer provided the scoring as the visiting Pirates earned an MSL West victory. Rachel Rhodes stopped 3 shots to earn a shutout.

Elk Grove 6, Wheeling 0: Nikki Zaino had a pair of goals, and Kelly Naughton, Sarah Stram, Emily Wary and Danielle Czyzewski hand single scores to power an MSL East win for the visiting Grenadiers. Melissa Solorio made a pair of saves in goal for Elk Grove.

Prospect Invite: The host Knights rolled to a 12-1 victory over Trinity to earn a spot in Saturday’s 8:30 a.m. semifinal against Rockton Hononegah, which defeated McHenry 2-0. Waukesha North and Moline will meet in the other semifinal at 10 a.m.
