Wheeling falls short against Moline
Jeremy Stephani hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter on his way to a game-high 22 points, but a comeback attempt by the host Wildcats came up short in nonconference play Saturday as Wheeling fell to Moline 58-52.
Nick Ricciardi finished with 20 points and had four 3s for Wheeling (2-15). Stephani finished with six 3s.
Niles West 55, Rolling Meadows 41: Mustangs coach Kevin Katovich credited host Niles West for playing defense that “really took us out of our game” in a nonconference loss for Rolling Meadows.
Calvin Gunn (8 points) and Matt Dolan (7) led the scoring effort for the Mustangs (5-12).
Morton 61, Schaumburg 55: The visiting Saxons (9-8) rallied from a big early deficit before ultimately coming up short in nonconference play despite 17 points from Jimmy Lundquist and 14 from Cole Reyes. Morton improved to 10-4.
Highland Park 60, Elk Grove 37: The Grenadiers dropped to 8-7 overall with a nonconference loss on the road.
New Trier 65, Buffalo Grove 56: The visiting Trevians earned a nonconference win over the Bison (7-10).
