21st Star DAR chapter to meet Sept. 5

The Twenty First Star Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their first meeting of the NSDAR year 2012-2013 Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Park Ridge Country Club, 636 N. Prospect Avenue in Park Ridge at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served at 12:00 p.m. with a meeting and program to follow. Hostesses for the day are: Barbara Ingolia, Julia Trelease, Mariett Reichard; Barbara Hale, Chairman.

Chapter Regent, Joy Martin is pleased to have Nat Bernard, present his program, "A Trip to the North Pole." This program is about his father's participation in the failed 1901 Baldwin-Ziegler expedition to the North Pole. Mr. Bernard is a long-time resident of Park Ridge and currently resides at The Summit of Uptown in Park Ridge. He will be bringing pictures and a relic from the expedition.

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal decent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership. The DAR recognizes "Patriots: as not only soldiers but also anyone who contributed to the cause of American freedom."
