Midtown Athletic Clubs Host Free Kids Tennis Play Day Sept. 8

Midtown Athletic Clubs in Chicago, Bannockburn, Palatine and Willowbrook will support National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month by hosting a “Free Tennis Play Day,” a complimentary tennis clinic for boys and girls, ages 4-10 years old, on Saturday, September 8, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

The event is open to the public – a Midtown membership is NOT required to participate.

Racquets will be provided for the kids. Advance RSVP can be made by calling the Midtown Athletic Club nearest you. Phone numbers can be found at www.midtown.com.

“Midtown's Free Tennis Play Day is geared towards getting more kids to play tennis by using modified equipment and courts tailored to a child's size and ability,” says Michael Mahoney, Senior Vice President of Midtown Athletic Clubs. “By using shorter and lighter racquets, slower-bouncing balls, smaller courts and simplified scoring, kids learn to play quickly and easily while having more fun in the process.”

Thousands of Free Tennis Play Days are being scheduled throughout the country in cooperation with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and in celebration of Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play in an effort to get kids active in tennis and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
