Roadside safety check set for Aug. 24-26 in West Chicago

West Chicago, Illinois: August 16, 2012 - A roadside safety check will be conducted by the West Chicago Police Department during the weekend of Aug. 24-26, 2012. This roadside safety check is part of an annual statewide enforcement effort to make our communities safer around the Labor Day holiday.

Safety checks are conducted to promote the safety and well being of the motoring public and to provide a deterrent for those who might violate the Illinois Vehicle Code or West Chicago City Ordinances.

The safety check will be used to detect persons who are operating motor vehicles without safety belts, with defective equipment, driving without a license, having no proof of insurance, or are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Plans have been established to conduct the check during hours which will provide the maximum opportunity for detection and apprehension of motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
