See what Fox Performing Arts Center could be at fundraiser

As we've reported, Rick Browne, a local architect, is working to convert the old Ziegler's Ace Hardware in West Dundee into the Fox Performing Arts Center, a venue he says will revitalize the downtown and become a hub of activity for local arts groups.

He was supposed to raise $500,000 by Aug. 1 but wasn't able to do so.

Meanwhile, he still continues to raise money toward the center in hopes that village trustees, the village owns the hardware store, give him an extension — the board is scheduled to take a vote on the matter on Aug. 20.

Browne has already raised $171,000.

The next fundraiser, dubbed “Celebrate the Arts,” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Otto Engineering, 11 W. Main St., Carpentersville.

There will be hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and live music, skits and a look at how an audition is run.

Tickets cost $25 a person or $85 for four people. Corporate table sponsorships are also available. You can purchase tickets online at foxartscenter.com/celebrate.html.

Program for adults needs donations:The St. Paul Diaper Bank Partnership has been offering adult incontinence products to Faith in Action, Senior Services of Crystal Lake and Senior Services of McHenry for the past few years.

But because of the increased demand in 2012 and the lack of donations, the program to provide these three agencies with adult products is now in jeopardy of ending.

This would affect many local seniors.

You can help save this program by donating medium, large, and extra large (tab and/or pullup) sized products by dropping them off at any one of the following locations:

Ÿ Faith in Action, 7105 Virginia Road, Suite 25, Crystal Lake, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays;

Ÿ Senior Services of Crystal Lake, 110 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays;

Ÿ Senior Services of McHenry, 3519 Richmond Road, McHenry, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Ÿ St. Paul Episcopal Church, 3706 W. St. Paul Ave., McHenry, has a 24-hour drop-off donation box.

You also can make a monetary donation in any amount to help the church purchase adult products. Send a check to St. Paul Episcopal with “St. Paul Diaper Bank” in the memo line.
