Theater company to show first production in Palatine
The Fremont Street Theater Company will premiere its first production, “Anything Goes,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at historic Cutting Hall in Palatine. The show will run the two weekends of Aug. 10-12 and 17-19 for a total of six performances.
Fremont Street founder and local attorney and musician, Sandy Sandquist, has assembled a veteran production team for “Anything Goes,” including director, Madeline Franklin; musical director, Ken McMullen; and Chicago actress, dancer and singer Dina DiCostanzo, who returns to her hometown to choreograph this tap dancing show that features the magical score of the incomparable Cole Porter.
A production involving more than 60 people, cast members include the local talent of Drew Leigh Williams of Chicago in the starring role of Reno Sweeney and Amy Orman of Chicago as the debutante Hope Harcourt. Drew and Amy come to Palatine along with choreographer DiCostanzo having just worked together in Drury Lane’s production of “Hairspray.”
Other actors include Kevin Goss of Lake in the Hills as Billy Crocker, Scott Bussert of Streamwood as Moonface Martin, Stephen Pickering of Fox River Grove as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Judith Ross of Palatine as Evangeline Harcourt, Julie Koerner of Northbrook as Erma and recent Jeff Award-winning actor Chuck Sisson of Barrington as the hard-drinking tycoon Elisha Whitney.
Sandquist’s entire family brings its talent to this production as wife Colleen, a program assistant at Lake Louise Elementary School in Palatine, is helping produce the show with her husband. Their daughter Kylen, a junior in elementary education at Illinois State University, plays one of Reno Sweeney’s “Angels,” and daughter Kara, a senior this fall at Palatine High School, sings and dances in the ensemble.
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Aug. 10, 11, 17 and 18 and 3 p.m. Sundays, Aug. 12 and 19.
Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the Cutting Hall Box Office. $18 for adults, in advance, $20 at the door; and $16 for students and seniors, in advance, $18 at the door; groups of 10 or more $15 in advance for same performance.
