Summer photo classes at Schaumburg Park District

Smile and say cheese!

Schaumburg Park District will offer two photography classes this summer at Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane. The classes for ages 14 and older will teach new skills that will make photos stand out among the rest. Both classes are taught by George LeClaire, an award-winning photojournalist with the Daily Herald.

“Learn to Use a Digital Camera,” set for 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, will focus on how to operate all the functions on a digital camera including white balance, programmable shooting modes, ISO, file format, quality control and light settings. Participants will learn one push button settings that will automatically make images and videos look professional. No photographic experience is required. Cost is $25 for residents and $37 for nonresidents.

“Taking Interesting Photos,” will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 7 and 14. The class will focus on how to make everyday photos and videos look professional, unique and interesting using photojournalism techniques. Participants will learn to add an interesting flair to photos, go beyond posed pictures, freeze action, shoot reaction and learn techniques used by professionals. Cost is $100 for residents and $120 for nonresidents.

Participants must bring a camera and user’s guide to each class.
