Father’s Day fishing derby to be held in Schaumburg

Cast a line with dad and grandpa at Volkening Lake

Fish, food, fun and fathers will be featured at the Schaumburg Park District’s annual Father’s Day Weekend Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 16, at Volkening Lake, 900 W. Schaumburg Road, in Schaumburg.

Prizes will be awarded for shortest fish, longest fish, most fish caught and most unique catch in each age group. Fishers are divided into age groups of 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-17 and a fathers’ group.

Participants receive a hot dog, chips and soda. Fishers must bring their own poles and bait.

Pre-registration ends at 5 p.m., June 15. Pre-registration fee is $8 for residents and $12 for nonresidents. Day-of registration is $10 for residents and $14 for nonresidents.
