It's Fremd vs. Schaumburg for sectional title

Top-seeded Fremd rolled into today's 1 p.m. Schaumburg sectional championship game with a 12-4 victory over Hoffman Estates in Friday's semifinal matchup.

Seniors JP French (5 goals) and Andre Degla (4) led the way for the Vikings (25-6), and Austin Smock (2) and Dan Knudsen (1) also scored while goalie Max Plichta came up with 26 stops.

Hoffman Estates (18-8) was paced by Mike Desider (2 goals) and 1 each from Adam Pasnicki and Nick Jessee.

Schaumburg 8, Conant 2: The second-seeded Saxons produced their best defensive effort of the season with an impressive victory over the Cougars.

Randy Carry had 4 goals and Matt McMullen had 3 to lead Schaumburg (18-7) to within one victory of earning a repeat trip to the Elite Eight.

Jonathon Burke and JC Virta had the goals for Conant (22-9).

Marty Faleni stopped 7 shots for Schaumburg, and Ryan Haman had 8 saves for Conant.

Palatine sectional

Stevenson 20, Wheeling 13: The top-seeded Patriots advanced to Saturday's 1 p.m. title game with a victory over the fourth-seeded Wildcats as Mitchell Sokolsky (7 goals) and Alex Shkiler (6) provided the bulk of the scoring for Stevenson.

Austin Ihde (4 goals) and Lukasz Szczepaniec (3) led the way for Mid-Suburban East co-champion Wheeling (22-8) .

McHenry 15, Lake Forest 8: The second-seeded Warriors (18-6) got a 5-goal effort from Joe Peck to earn a spot opposite Stevenson (23-8) in the sectional championship game.
