Wild comeback to St. Viator

There wasn’t much action through the first six innings of Thursday’s nonconference baseball game between visiting Prospect and St. Viator in Arlington Heights.

The seventh inning was a totally different story as Prospect scored twice to break a tie but Viator came back with 3 runs to pull out a 4-3 victory.

Chris Myjak drove in 2 runs, Anthony Ferrante had an RBI, Joe Rossi had 2 hits and Gunnar Kay got the victory in relief for Viator (14-9). Jack Landwehr had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Dan Kavanaugh had 2 hits and Kevin Kern drove in a run for Prospect (8-14).

Leyden 9, York 6: Leyden (12-8) broke a 4-4 tie with a 4-run sixth as Angel Sanchez (6-2) went 6 innings with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk in the West Suburban Conference crossover. Joey Diaz went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, Brennen Chillemi went 2-for-3 with a double and Ivan Nevarez had a 2-run double.

Maine West 10, Niles North 0 (5 inn.): For the second straight game, Maine West (12-9, 4-3) beat Niles North 10-0 in 5 innings in the Central Suburban North.
