Bartlett’s Wolfsmith gets 200th win
Bartlett softball coach Jim Wolfsmith picked up his 200th career win Friday as his Hawks downed Streamwood 5-1 in Upstate Eight Conference action.
It was Bartlett’s eighth win in a row and kept the Hawks undefeated in the UEC.
Amanda Montbriand (4-0) tossed a 3-hitter for Bartlett (11-2, 6-0). She struck out 9 and walked 2.
Rachel Dolski was 3-for-3 for Bartlett, while Kaylyn Zierke (3-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI) and Kayla Haberstich (2B, RBI) also sparked the offense.
Dani Fisher was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Kellee Conquest suffered the loss in the circle for Streamwood (4-9, 1-5).
South Elgin 5, St. Charles East 1: Senior Sam Bolin fired a 3-hitter that included 11 groundball outs and 2 strikeouts as South Elgin (5-12, 3-3) notched its best win of the season in this Upstate Eight game. Alyssa Buddle was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and 2 RBI for the Storm, while Taylor Rees also homered and Kara Rodriguez was 2-for-4. Bolin retired 11 batters in a row from the third into the sixth inning.
Lake Park 2, Elgin 0: Hannah Perryman struck out 18 and threw a 4-hitter but Elgin couldn’t score in this Upstate Eight loss. Perryman (7-5) has now struck out 85 batters in her last 5 games and has 178 Ks in 82 innings this season. Kelly Bremer (2-for-3), Caroline Sobeski and Perryman each had doubles for Elgin (9-8, 2-4) in the loss.
McHenry 1, Jacobs 0: McKayla Lein gave up only 4 hits but Jacobs committed 4 errors in this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division loss. The Golden Eagles (7-5, 0-1) left 7 runners on base, 4 in scoring position.
Prairie Ridge 4, Dundee-Crown 0: Kirsten Stevens threw a no-hitter as Prairie Ridge downed the Chargers (4-9, 0-2) in this FVC Valley game. Amanda Eissler took the loss for D-C.
