Libertyville brews a winner

Kevin McQuillen smacked a double and earned the win, as Libertyville’s baseball team won a 10-9 decision over Milwaukee Riverside at Miller Park in Milwaukee on Thursday night.

Libertyville (9-3) also got doubles from Evan Skoug, Darwin Townsend and Matt Vogt. Anthony Mack contributed a triple.

Carmel 5, Wauconda 2: Tyler Murphy tripled twice for the visiting Corsairs, and winning pitcher Dalten Wright came within two outs of pitching a complete game.

Wauconda (7-4) got a home run from Shawn Sundquist and a 3-for-4 performance from Jeff Lindberg.

Carmel improved to 8-4.

Grayslake Central 5, Dundee-Crown 4: Sophomore Matt Loeffl lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning, as the Rams prevailed in the Fox Valley Conference game.

Grayslake Central (8-5, 2-1) got 2 hits apiece from Nick Hosford, Ryan Hamrick, Kyle Balling and Ryan Fontana. Mark Ash threw 7 strong innings, but Christian Edwards earned the win in relief.

Fontana and Balling started the 10th with back-to-back singles. Loeffl’s sacrifice fly came after Brett Muhr walked to load the bases.
