Eric Stazy allowed Geneva 2 runs in the fourth inning and that was it Monday as he threw a complete-game 7-hitter to lead South Elgin over Geneva 4-2 in Upstate Eight Conference baseball action.
Stazy struck out 3 and walked 3 and also had 2 RBI in the win for the Storm (5-2, 2-1).
Mike Muprhy was 2-for-4 with a double for South Elgin and Nevan Jeske had a triple. Nick Binder also drove in a run with a pinch-hit single in the seventh inning.
Neuqua Valley 12, Streamwood 1: Zach Harris suffered the loss for the Sabres in Upstate Eight action.
Lake Park 13, Larkin 6: Ray Garcia (2-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI), Cody Bilger (2-for-2, RBI) and Kyle Newquist (3B (led the Larkin offense in this Upstate Eight loss. Dylan Ganow took the loss on the mound for the Royals (4-7, 1-2).
Aurora Christian 2, St. Edward 1: Luke Duffy was the hard-luck loser for the Green Wave in this Suburban Christian setback. Duffy allowed just 4 hits and struck out 5 with no walks.
College baseball
ECC 26, Illinois Valley 3: The Spartans (10-9) pounded out 20 hits and took advantage of 7 errors to win in nonconference play. Sam Komel hit a grand slam home run for ECC, while Ryan Richardson and Bobby Thorson had 2 doubles each and Justin Kalusa and Jimmy Martin added a double each. Ryan Hudsteth allowed just 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks for the win. The victory was the 496th of ECC coach Bill Angelo’s career.
