NWSRA to host dance-a-thon April 14

All are invited to travel back in time with Northwest Special Recreation Association and Special Leisure Services Foundation at the second “Back to the Amazing ’80s Dance-A-Thon.” The event is on Saturday, April 14, at the Park Place Family Recreation Center in Streamwood.

Registration is required, and the minimum pledge to participate is $25. Prizes are available for each pledge level achieved thereafter. To register, please visit www.nwsra.org/fundraising or call (847) 392-2848.

SLSF is the fundraising arm of NWSRA. The foundation raises funds through a variety of means to support five focuses of NWSRA programs: accessible transportation, the Kevin T. Kendrigan Memorial Scholarship Program, general program support, inclusion opportunities and NWSRA Lightning athletes.

NWSRA is an extension of 17 park districts in the Northwest suburbs established in 1973, providing outstanding recreational opportunities to children and adults with disabilities. In 2011, NWSRA received over 18,000 registrations in more than 2,000 programs. NWSRA provides special events, trips, leisure education, inclusion services, sports training and competition, weekly programs, and much more to its residents.
