Allan pitches Hoffman Estates to victory

Freshman Charlotte Allan (2-4) struck out six to help Hoffman Estates defeat visiting Addison Trail 4-1 on Thursday.

Junior Nicole LaBeck went 2-for-3 for the Hawks (2-5-1) while Kaileen Hendle, senior Amanda Harris, junior Heather Bartoszewski and Allan each had RBI.

Maine West 7, Glenbrook South 0: Junior Ariel Valles (6-3) threw a 3-hitter and struck out 10 for the Warriors (7-6) in the Central Suburban League crossover. Valles also had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Other offensive leaders for West were Hanna Udischas (2-for-4, 1 run), Katie Fitzgerald (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Abbey Herling (2-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI).

“It was another great all-around team effort,” said Warriors coach Amy Gonazales.

Willowbrook 7, Wheeling 2: Wheeling freshman Nette Howard (0-1) struck out two and gave up 3 runs in 3 innings.

Howard and Jackie Resnick each had doubles while teammate Ashley Hafertepe tripled for the visiting Wildcats (1-3).

York 2, Elk Grove 0: York’s Tessa Kroll no-hit Elk Grove (7-1), striking out seven in Elmhurst.

York (4-5) scored the game’s only runs in the third inning.

Alyssa Johnson singled in Rachel Gentile with two outs and Kroll (3-1) doubled home Johnson.

Kroll walked four, retiring eight of the final nine batters she faced.

Grens ace Dani Goranson (4-1) struck out nine and walked one in the third inning.

Becca Maher reached base with two outs in the seventh for Elk Grove and also walked in the game.

Tori Liewergen drew two of the Grens’ 4 walks.

“It was a tough day to be hitter,” said Elk Grove coach Ken Grams. “Their pitcher threw very well.”

Both teams had multiple runners on base only one time in the game.

The Grens host face state power Richards at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
