Haggerty transfers to St. Francis

Maddie Haggerty, who helped lead Benet to its first state volleyball championship last fall, is transferring to St. Francis.

Haggerty, Daily Herald All-Area as a sophomore and one of the top outside hitters in the state, will be joined at St. Francis next year by her younger sister Molly, considered to be one of the top incoming freshmen in the country.

Maddie Haggerty, who teamed with senior sister Meghan on last fall’s Benet team, put down 16 kills in Benet’s 25-14, 22-25, 25-16 win over Cary-Grove in the Class 4A championship game. The Haggertys will join a St. Francis team coming off a third-place finish at state. St. Francis already returns setter McKenna Kelsay, junior Michelle McLaughlin, back row specialist Lexi Riccolo and middle Mary Boken from that squad.
