McHenry Co. teens charged after fleeing stolen car

Two McHenry County teens have been charged after fleeing from a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop, according to police.

Officers from the Algonquin Police Department attempted to stop a 2011 Chevy Impala on Sunday, and both occupants of the vehicle fled on foot, police announced Monday.

The occupants, Nicholas Svoboda, 18, and Adam W. Pittner, 19, were later arrested in the 300 block of Annandale Drive in Lake in the Hills, according to police.

Investigators discovered the vehicle was stolen from the unincorporated Cary area on March 28.

Police said a suspect removed the keys to the Impala from another vehicle and stole the vehicle.

Svoboda, of the 0-99 block of Hickory Lane in Cary, was charged with burglary, nine counts of theft, misuse of a credit card and resisting arrest. Pittner, of the 1100 block of Amberwood Drive in Crystal Lake was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated fleeing, resisting arrest and various traffic offenses, according to police.

Both men are due in court Wednesday.

Svoboda is being held in lieu of $34,000 bail, while Pittner is being held in lieu of $40,000 bail.
