Fox Valley Rep Receives Awards for Excellence in serving the Community
Fox Valley Repertory recently accepted 2 new awards on behalf of their excellence in community awareness – the Illinois Alliance for Art Education (IAAE) award for promoting arts education, and the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce Community Image Award.
In 2011, the St. Charles-based theater changed its name from Noble Fool Theatricals to Fox Valley Repertory; a name that better represented the community they have grown their mission, vision, patron base, and academy students around.
As the nonprofit theater company in residence at Pheasant Run Resort now for the eighth year, “we are focused on creating an engaging theater experience by producing shows that inspire our community to laugh, reflect and reconnect to moments in one's life,” says Artistic Director John Gawlik. A major portion of their commitment is through arts education. With the most extensive offering of academy programs, they hope to continue to inspire youth to explore their own lives through the performing arts.
The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce Community Image Award was presented to Managing Director Colleen Tovar on February 3, 2012 at the annual Charlemagne Awards banquet. Fox Valley Rep was recognized for making a significant improvement to their business by changing their name, enhancing their mission, providing educational programs, and promoting their improved brand successfully.
Tovar also accepted the Illinois Alliance for Art Education (IAAE) award for promoting arts education at Springfield's Executive Mansion on March 15, 2012 with staff members Morgan Ball and Audra Sybert. The award was presented as part of Arts Education Week, in which the IAAE annually recognizes outstanding service to the field of arts education.
“The community's support in 2011 during our inaugural season as Fox Valley Rep has led to our most successful season ever. From making history with our first ever Collider New Play Project with Fox Valley's high-energy physics facility Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory, to a record amount of subscribers, students, donors and sponsors, we're very happy with the direction our company is headed in,” says Artistic Director John Gawlik.
Fox Valley Rep is currently staging the Neil Sedaka musical, Breaking Up is Hard to Do, directed multi-award winning Choreographer and Director Kevin Bellie. The Fox Valley Rep Performing Arts Academy is ready for their spring session to begin in mid-April, featuring numerous acting, audition, and music theater programs for ages 3-18.
