Larkin needs lesson in sportsmanship

After each Elgin/Larkin basketball game, I leave the game with a feeling of embarrassment, disappointment and disbelief. I am left with these feelings after two hours of listening to the rude, mean and derogatory cheers directed at the Elgin basketball players and cheerleaders.

A recent game was no different, in fact, it seemed worse and that is why I am compelled to share my feelings.

I graduated from Larkin, loved my school and I expect better behavior from the Larkin students. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a cross town rivalry as long as it is not taken too far.

The Elgin students show so much class by not responding to the taunts made by the Larkin student cheer section. I do have to give the kudos for their school spirit.

Royals, next year show your spirit with class. And Maroons, continue to make us proud.
