Fox Valley Rep students to perform 'Seussical Jr.' and H.E.L.P. animals in need

“Now that is a very unusual hat. I wonder what's under a hat such as that!” You don't have to wait long to find out as the children of Fox Valley Repertory's Performing Arts Academy will be performing free showcases of "Seussical Jr." on the Pheasant Run Mainstage in March!

Free performances will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 12 and 11 a.m. Sunday, March 18. Admission to this show is free but the cast will be accepting donations for H.E.L.P. (Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets).

Appreciated items include dog and cat toys, milk bones, raw hides, Kleenex, bleach and gift cards. For more information on H.E.L.P. please visit www.helpinganimals.org.

The boys and girls have been busy rehearsing their lines and moving to the music as they prepare for this fun-loving production combining Dr. Seuss' whimsical stories that come to life.

“I am always amazed at the talent and dedication of these young performers,” says Director Tracy Whiteside from St. Charles. “Seussical is just a fun show and the cast brings such imagination and enthusiasm to their roles. This is why I love working with kids!”

The cast includes kids from all over the Fox Valley including: Cecelia Carrington of Aurora; Caden Bohmer, Madelynn Calbeck, Brooke Herrera, and Jacob Skomer, all of Batavia; Catherine Downs, Kaia Ebel, Erin Hurley, and Ella Kobylecky, all of Geneva; Christina Calbeck, Carolyn Calbeck, and Robert Keldani, all of South Elgin; and Kaitlyn Crowell, Katie Das, Kristen Das, Erika Denker, Kiera Denker, Bethany Paris, Melina Paris and Eva Saltsman, all of St. Charles.

“This has been my favorite show because the music and characters are so fun,” says cast member Caden Bohmer of Batavia.

This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and is sponsored in part by Kane County Chronicle.

The Fox Valley Repertory Performing Arts Academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors and musicians. Classes are available for ages 3-19. For more information, visit www.foxvalleyrep.org/education or call (630) 364-0550.
