St. Viator shuts down Northside Prep

St. Viator's girls basketball team used a strong defensive effort to post a 45-23 triumph over Class 3A regional host Northside College Prep in Wednesday night's semifinal in Chicago.

The No. 5 seeded Lions (18-13) advance to Friday's 7:30 p.m. championship against No. 4 Grayslake North (20-8).

St. Viator was led by sophomore Erin Fabbri (12 points) and senior Mallory Hess (11).

Lauren Rooney, Mary Cleary, and Justice Johnson anchored the post play as the Lions limited Northside to single digits in each quarter.
