Generosity means a lot to needy families

Schaumburg Township would like to extend a warm and highly deserving thank you to the community for their generosity and thoughtfulness this past holiday season to the townships Holiday Program.

During the season of giving and receiving, Schaumburg Township was fortunate to be on both ends of this spectrum. Donors generously gave food to keep the pantry shelves, refrigerators and freezers well stocked during our busiest months.

Coats, hats, gloves and scarves, purchased and handmade, were donated to help keep children warm. Substantial financial contributions were received to help keep the pantry in full operation throughout the new year.

Our Adopt-A-Family Program made the holidays a little brighter for more than 420 families, seniors and disabled individuals. To the 103 sponsors who participated in the program, we can’t thank you enough! To all the volunteers who shared their energy, time and talents, we thank you for offering us a helping hand this season.

With the cooperation of businesses, schools, libraries, clubs, individuals, families, volunteers and staff we provided food to more than 500 households throughout December.

Without the community involvement, this would not be possible. To name each and everyone would fill this page, so please pat yourself on the back or that of a friend if you recognized the need in the community and made an effort to help your neighbors during the holidays.

Again we thank you and wish you a happy and healthy New Year!
