Harvest Christian wins regional opener
Harvest Christian 32, Woodlands Academy 31: It wasn't pretty, but after leading 15-3 at the end of the first half, the Lions (14-6) fought off a late surge by Woodlands Academy to earn their first girls basketball regional victory in school history. Kylee Knox led all scorers with 17 points while Sydney Doby and Morgan Lockwood chipped in 6 points apiece.
Jacobs 33, Crystal Lake South 30: In a defensive showdown throughout, the Golden Eagles (6-19, 3-9) shut down the paint and notched a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division senior night win over the Gators (10-17, 4-8). Lauren Grady's game-high 15 points and her clutch free throws at the end helped seal it not only for Jacobs, but her career at home. Sara Mickow scored 10 for CLS.
Women's basketball
Elgin Community College 64, Moraine Valley Community College 61: The Spartans found themselves down 29-23 at halftime, but surged back as they earned a victory at home. Cassie Dumoulin (27 points), Alex Dumoulin (20 points), and DiJon Smith (14 points) each recorded double-digits for the Spartans, who maintained first place in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference with the win.
Prairie State College 83, McHenry County College 27: Jerrica Graham scored 13 points to lead the Scots (2-25, 0-11), but it wasn't enough as they dropped this Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference game at home.
