Grant awarded to teachers for proposal

The Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation recently announced funding $35,000 for grant programs to District 54 staff members. Recipients were presented award certificates during the recent school board meeting.

The $10,000 Dennis P. Quinn Super Grant was awarded to a team of educators at Hoover Elementary School for their well-written proposal, “Robotics Collaboration with Schaumburg Saxons & Motorola Solutions all working together to push Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics forward.” Other programs of focus included literacy, nutrition, health, fitness, environmental and home-school connections.

Funding of these grants is made possible by the Foundation’s signature events, the next being Mardi Gras and Casino Night 2012, to be held Feb. 17 at The Stonegate in Hoffman Estates.
