Motorola grant funds Schaumburg K-9 visits

The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Schaumburg (CPAAAS) has received $5,000 grant from Motorola Solution Foundation’s Public Safety and Security Institute to help fund 75 visits to Schaumburg schools by the Schaumburg Police Department’s K-9 Officer Majic and his handler, Officer Denis Schmitt.

“This grant opportunity allows us to educate and interact with young children in a positive manner without the need to divert budget funds from our core mission of law enforcement,” Schaumburg Police Chief Brian Howerton said. “It’s important that children are not afraid of police officers and this program may be the first one-on-one encounter with a police officer that many kids experience.”
