Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital first baby of the year arrives at 2:43 am

The first baby of the year at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital made her entrance at 2:43 am.

Lily Proz-Ozinga weighed in at 5 pounds and 13 ounces. Proud mom, Julia Proz-Ozinga, and grandmother, Beverly Ozinga, of Winfield, were overjoyed on the new arrival on this special day.

“I was teasing my sister months ago that she'd show up on New Years Day and I couldn't believe it happened,” said Julia.

Dr. Richard Barton, an obstetrician on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital, delivered baby Lily in the early hours of January 1, 2012.

“We've been trying to keep this baby in for weeks. But I guess she was determined to come out and party,” said Barton.

Both mom and baby are resting comfortably in the family care unit at Good Samaritan Hospital.
