Taylor paces Grayslake Central’s win in Bloomington
Jordan Taylor scored a game-high 21 points to lead Grayslake Central’s boys basketball team to a 54-47 win over Rock Island in opening-round action of the State Farm Holiday Classic at Illinois Wesleyan University’s Shirk Center in Bloomington on Tuesday.
Sayvonte McWilliams and Casey Boyle added 13 points apiece for the Rams, who won their fifth game in a row to improve to 7-3.
Grayslake Central will play Springfield at 7:30 today at Normal West High School.
Pekin 42, Lake Zurich 27: At Pekin, the Bears trailed only 25-22 after three quarters but got outscored 17-5 in the fourth.
Jeff O’Brien scored 12 points for Lake Zurich (8-7), which had won six of its last seven.
Mirko Grcic had 6 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears, who will play Freeport at 12:45 p.m. today.
Wauconda 54, Woodstock North 53: At Marengo, the Bulldogs prevailed in overtime, as Matt Mead had 15 points and 5 rebounds.
Wauconda (6-6, 2-1) also received a season-high 12 points, 4 assists and 3 steals from Keith Blomberg and 11 points and 5 steals from Kyle Ryan.
Antioch 47, Westminster Christian 43: At Marengo, Joe Gregory and William Waschow each scored 11 points for the Sequoits, who improved to 3-9 and 2-1 in the tournament.
