Leo Nelson means much to Elgin

I write to express my thanks to Leo Nelson for all he has quietly done to make Elgin a better place to live and work. He recently announced his retirement from the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, and I offer my congratulations and best wishes.

Leo represents a passing era of leadership in Elgin that may not be matched today. He was part of a network of a small group of dedicated individuals who did so much to provide so much to our community.

Whether it was United Way, YMCA, Easter Seals, ECC, Elgin Symphony, U-46, the City of Elgin or any number of worthwhile projects, they were all the beneficiaries of Leo’s leadership.

We thank you, Leo, for all you have done, the legacy you have left, and all without seeking personal recognition.
