Mark Collins New Assistant Dean of Adjunct Faculty Support

Mark Collins adds another first to his career as the new assistant dean of Adjunct Faculty Support at College of DuPage.

The Oswego resident is the first of two assistant deans hired to work with the more than 1,200 adjunct faculty members at College of DuPage. The two positions are new to the College, giving Collins the opportunity to implement fresh ideas.

“Throughout my career, I've been the ‘first' or ‘only' one in a position. I don't look for these positions, but they do attract me,” he said. “This one allows me to get back into higher education, because I believe we change people's lives through education.”

Collins earned his bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh, his master's in Leadership from Duquesne University, and his Ed.D. in Adult and Continuing Education from National-Louis University.

Before coming to College of DuPage, Collins worked for nearly 10 years for McDonald's as the Master Trainer, a Hamburger University professor and regional training consultant. He has also taught at Benedictine University, National-Louis University and Community College of Allegheny County. His academic background includes working in advising, financial aid and admissions.

In his new role at COD, Collins will assist the College's deans and associate deans in the overall administration and support of the adjunct faculty.

“College of DuPage is a big community college,” Collins said. “I look forward to this position, which provides ample room to grow and develop programs that represent forward-thinking.”
