4 tablespoons butter, melted

2¼ cups heavy cream

¾ cup white sugar, plus more for garnish

4 tablespoons cornstarch

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 baked 9-inch pie crust

Cinnamon or nutmeg, for garnish

Melt butter in a medium saucepan and then stir in the cream until well combined.In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and sugar in small bowl. Add to cream and butter mixture; bring to a boil over medium-high heat and stir constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.Pour mixture into the pie crust. Sprinkle with additional sugar and heat under broiler until bubbly and browned. Sprinkle with cinnamon and/or nutmeg and chill until set, about 4-6 hours. Serves eight.
