Northwest/ St. Viator rolls, Leyden 3-0

St. Viator’s Kevin Walsh and Ore Arogundade combined to outscore Highland Park’s entire boys basketball team Wednesday night.

Walsh had 19 points and Arogundade added 16 as the Lions (2-0) rolled to a 60-33 victory in their Thanksgiving tournament at Cahill Gym in Arlington Heights.

The Lions face Wheeling at 5 p.m. Friday and Conant at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Leyden 54, Westmont 35: Leyden coach Bill Heisler was hoping for a strong start this season.

So far the Eagles have delivered as they improved to 3-0 as Alex Herrera scored 13 points against Westmont in the Ridgewood tournament. Herrera scored 27 points in each of the first two games.

Leyden will play for the tourney title at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Buffalo Grove 66, Holy Trinity 31: Luke Potnick made a pair of 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 14 ponts as BG (1-1) earned a victory in its Bison Classic. Sam Wacker added 7 points as 13 players scored for the Bison.

Oak Park 77, Prospect 65: Oak Park-River Forest had five players score in double figures and opened a 42-29 halftime lead en route to the win over Prospect in the opener of the St. Patrick tournament.

Mike LaTulip led the Knights with 17 points on 9-for-10 free-throw shooting. Derice Black scored 11 points and Jack Landwehr added 8 points.

Oak Park’s 6-6 Gabe Levin led all scorers with 22 points and Bradley-bound guard Ka’Darryl Bell added 12.

Walther Lutheran 61, Wheeling 55: Sophomore Jeremy Stephani scored 21 points for Wheeling (0-3) in the St. Viator Tournament.

Stevenson 68, Christian Liberty 23: Christian Liberty (1-1) led 9-8 after a quarter but it was all Stevenson (2-1) from there in the Bison Classic at Buffalo Grove.

Michael Fleming and Jalen Brunson had 10 points apiece and Colby and Connor Cashaw added 8 each for the Patriots.

Luke Comerouski and David Colbert both had 5 points for Christian Liberty.
