St. Edward notches 2 wins
The St. Edward girls basketball team got its season off to a rousing start Monday night, winning two games at the Dakota tournament.
The Green Wave opened the night with a 63-42 win over North Boone then came back a little over an hour later and downed Byron 67-47.
Maddie Kerr struck for 20 points in the win over North Boone, while Callie Johnson added 18 and Kelly Tripicchio and Alex Lee 8 each.
In the win over Byron, the Wave raced out to a 38-20 halftime lead and never looked back. Johnson had 22 points, Rena Ranallo 19 and Kerr 13 to lead the way, while Katherine Von Ahnen added 8.
DeKalb 27, Huntley 36: Sam Andrews had 16 points and Kelsey Seitz added 8 for Huntley (1-2) in this tough loss at the WarHawk tournament at West Aurora.
