Marian Central welcomes families, students to open house

Submitted by Marian Central Catholic High School

Marian Central Catholic High School will open its doors Sunday, Nov. 20, to welcome the families and students who are interested in learning what its faith-based education has to offer them. The afternoon will begin at 1 p.m. with an administrator presentation in the auditorium. Guided building tours will follow until 3 p.m. where families will have the opportunity to speak with teachers, students and administrators, and discover the benefits of a Marian education.

There has never been a better time to be a part of the Marian community. The construction of our new 25,000-square-foot building addition is complete and classes are being held in the seven new state-of-the-art combination science classroom/laboratories and engineering classroom. The expansion of the guidance department is accommodating the daily visits by college representatives from around the country. Additionally, each year the school updates and expands technology in our classrooms; extending the amount of financial assistance — more than $300,000 in 2011-12 available to the school's families; and the athletic and other co-curricular programs continue to thrive.

Marian Central welcomes 695 students each day. Classes are small enough for students to get to know each other, yet the student body is large enough that they are offered a varied and challenging college preparatory curriculum. Teachers and staff are dedicated to the intellectual, physical, religious, spiritual, and emotional growth of every student, and they strive to provide the attention, nurturing, and support necessary for a successful high school experience.

Each year, more than 98 percent of graduating seniors go on to higher education. Additionally, the Class of 2011 received college scholarships totaling over $13.5 million. Among the 193 graduates were 37 Illinois State Scholars and seven National Merit Commended Scholars. Together, the Class of 2011 earned a mean ACT score of 24.3.
