Scouting Glenbard North boys basketball
Glenbard North
Coach: Joe Larson.
Last year: 11-16, 5-9, tied for fifth in DuPage Valley Conference; lost 54-51 to Downers South in Class 4A West Aurora regional semifinals.
Top players: Josh Fleming, sr., F; Ryan Krueger, sr., F; Robin Paye, sr., G; Justin Jackson, so., G; Trevor Hackett, sr., G; Troy Jackson, sr., F; Sterling Hightower, sr., G; Chavares Flanigan, so., F.
Scouting report: The Panthers boast one of the DVC’s top players in 6-foot-5 Fleming, a third-year varsity member who averaged 17.5 points and 5 rebounds last year. With across-the-board athleticism, Larson believes the Panthers have the ideal talent to play full-court basketball. “Our defense is going to be the key,” Larson said. “We want to pressure and cause turnovers with our athleticism.” Six-eight Krueger will make an impact inside and out, and should help take scoring pressure off Fleming. Paye is a crux of the defense. Hackett and Hightower figure greatly in the Panthers’ ballhandling, although Hackett is one of three players delayed by the playoff run by Glenbard North’s football team.
