Addison Parks offers winter trips

Active adults aged 50 or better will enjoy getting into the holiday spirit with the Addison Park District. In anticipation of the holiday season, a performance of Irving Berlin's musical "White Christmas" will be featured at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, "The Nutcracker Suite" performed by Judith Svalander Dance Theatre at the Woodstock Opera House and a tour of downtown Chicago's "Holiday Sweets and Surprises."

Enjoy a matinee performance of Irving Berlin's musical "White Christmas" at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire on Sunday, November 20. One of America's most beloved silver screen classics is now a brand new stage musical. When two song and dance men follow a sister act booked at a lodge in Vermont, they discover that with no snow and no customers, the owner is nearly bankrupt.

The two acts team up and put on a show to save the lodge. Packed with Irving Berlin hits like “Blue Skies,” “Count Your Blessings,” “I Love a Piano” and the title song “White Christmas,” your entire family will celebrate this magical time of year with this beautiful new musical.

Come enjoy the magic of the season as the Judith Svalander Dance Theatre transforms the Woodstock Opera house with holiday magic. The Nutcracker Suite is an enchanting journey and has become a holiday tradition for so many! Buses will depart from Community Rec Center at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11 for this afternoon performance and return to Addison by 5 p.m.

You will be delighted with the hundreds of trees, thousands of lights, holiday entertainment and activities illuminating downtown Chicago on the Holiday Sweets and Surprises tour hosted by the Park District. This tour scheduled for Friday, December 2 includes samples of fudge from the Fudge Pot and melt-in-your-mouth toffee from Terry's Toffee. Lunch will be at Ann Sathers, a favorite neighborhood restaurant.
