St. Francis rolls into Joliet Catholic rematch

Haley Gable and Daiva Wise each had 6 kills, and St. Francis (32-6) rolled past Morris 25-10, 25-17 to advance to the championship match of the Class 3A Joliet Catholic sectional. Carly Warner added 13 assists and Grace Churney 5 kills for St. Francis.

St. Francis on Thursday will play Joliet Catholic, a 25-16, 25-21 winner over Nazareth. It is the sixth straight year St. Francis and Joliet Catholic will meet in the playoffs. St. Francis won the matches in 2006 and 2007, Joliet Catholic winning the last three years.

Downers Grove North:The No. 6 seed and host Dolphins advanced to their first sectional final since 2007 with their second straight upset, knocking off No. 2 Downers Grove North 25-20, 25-22 at the Class 4A Whitney Young sectional.Madisen Lenzini had 16 kills for Young (33-4), which had upset No. 3 Hinsdale South in the regional final. Jessie Tulacka had 9 kills, Katherine Mahlke 8 kills and Taylor Kasal 23 assists for Downers Grove North (22-16).Lyons Township d. Hinsdale Central:The top seed and defending state champions avenged a regular season loss to the No. 5 Red Devils with a 25-18, 25-19 victory at the Class 4A Whitney Young sectional.Illinois-bound Alexis Viliunas had 6 kills, 12 assists and 2 blocks and Laura Williams 7 kills for Lyons. Ally Davis had 7 kills and 2 blocks and Katie Grabowski 6 kills for Hinsdale Central (20-18).
