Scouting Mid-Suburban League diving

Mid-Suburban League diving championshps

When: 6 p.m. Friday

Where: Barrington

Outlook: Prospect freshman Dana Liva made a splash from the very beginning of the season and has only improved with each passing week. She won the Hersey Jamboree with a 6-dive total of 228.90 and was sharp in each dual, regularly scoring around 220. She's also excelled with an 11-dive list, winning Buffalo Grove's invite with a 374. There's no shortage of experienced talent here, though, and it'll be interesting to see if that makes a difference. Fremd seniors Stephanie and Elizabeth Uhrich have been racking up 1-2 finishes in Mid-Suburban League duals and are tested in pressure situations, having advanced to the state meet multiple times. They're both multi-sport standouts (gymnastics, track and field) who won't shy away from competition. Palatine senior Stephanie Hamer, another state meet veteran, has a chance to follow last year's conference champion and her former teammate, Mallory Fisher, to victory. Hamer has regularly been at about 215 in dual meets this fall. Elk Grove senior Natalie Przybylski has been solid and steady all season and has surpassed 200 multiple times. Others who figure to challenge for the top six include Conant's Haley Schuhl and Hersey's Hannah Bovino.

The rest of the story: Diving counts as one event in the MSL swimming and diving meet, which continues at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barrington.
