Volunteer to improve habitat in Woodstock
Submitted by Environmental Defenders of McHenry County
On Saturday, Oct. 22, people across America will take part in “Make a Difference Day.”
In Woodstock, the members of the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will meet at the headwaters of the Kishwaukee River to cut out invasive species and collect trash to improve this area as habitat for native plants and animals.
Everyone is invited to “make a difference” on this date by joining in this effort.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon, after a short hike.
Volunteers are asked to wear work clothes and gloves and to park in the Soil and Water District’s parking lot at the corner of Route 14 and Dean Street in Woodstock. All necessary equipment as well as water and snacks will be provided.
Originally created by USA Weekend Magazine, Make a Difference Day is the nation’s largest day of volunteering. Help make a positive difference in the environment and enjoy some time outdoors.
