Drabowski, Meadows succeed at Eisenhower

With Veronica Drabowski earning all-tourney recognition and some outstanding net play by Rachel Mickey (18 blocks) and Morgan Keller (11 blocks), Rolling Meadows girls volleyball team won the Decatur Eisenhower Invite on Saturday.

The Mustangs (10-7) went 4-0 in their matches, defeating the host school, Warrensburg Sangamon Valley and Matoon.

Leading the attack were Keller (19 kills), Drabowski (17), Jenny Vliet (13) and Mickey (7).

Ashley Montanez also had 14 blocks while Vliet (38 digs) helped set the offense with 36 assists. Olivia Falk handed out 26.

Abbey Hill served 4 aces in the invite and Grace Skorin collected 15 digs and Kelly Sarussi 14.

Meadows made it four in a row when it defeated Matoon 26-24, 21-25, 25-23 for its only three-set match of the tourney.

“That was a great match right down the end,” said Mustangs coach Janet Opels.
