Learn about local wine, food at Marengo event

Enjoy wine in the woods and celebrate the local “foodshed” at McHenry County Conservation District's “Local Libations & Temptations” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Marengo Ridge Conservation Area, 2411 South Route 23, Marengo.

This program begins with a tasting of regional wines with pairings of appetizers and cheeses featuring locally harvested ingredients.

Flatlander Market of Marengo will provide information on where you can find all of the delicious seasonal offerings made especially for this event.

Following the tasting portion of the event will be a presentation on foodsheds, advantages of local foods, and opportunities to find seasonal local harvests.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. The event is held entirely outdoors.

Fee is $45 for county residents and $50 for nonresidents. Registration is accepted online, by phone, mail or walk-in at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, (815) 479-5779.
