Schaumburg converts just in time
Schaumburg and Buffalo Grove appeared to be headed toward overtime in their Mid-Suburban League boys soccer crossover match Tuesday night.
But the Saxons avoided extra time with less than three minutes to play with the tiebreaking goal in a 2-1 victory. Norikazu Honda and Jake Savino scored for the winners.
Alberto Eloyza scored BG’s goal.
Hoffman 3, Palatine 2: Goals by Misael Vargas, Luis Ortiz and Mike Wnek propelled Hoffman Estates in the MSL West. Jon Clark and Kyle Clancy scored for the Pirates.
Prospect 1, Hersey 1: All the scoring in the MSL East draw was in the first half as Hersey’s Jonathan Krok converted a penalty kick and Prospect’s Bill Cooney scored off Patryk Ruta’s assist.
Irvin Velasquez had 8 saves for the Hersey and Brad Reibel had one for Prospect.
Fremd 1, Rolling Meadows 0: Yusuke Kanada scored the only goal and Colton Caesius had 4 saves for Fremd in the MSL crossover.
Wheeling 4, Elk Grove 1: Sergio Nunez, Alex Flores and Irving Balboa were among the goal-scorers for Wheeling and Rogelio Laredo had 7 saves in the MSL East victory.
Christian Liberty 4, IMSA 3: Luke Comerouski had 2 goals and an assist, Kiefer Bennett had a goal and 2 assists and Mike Hennek assisted Dave Colbert on his goal for Christian Liberty.
Leyden 5, Hinsdale South 3: Leyden got a hat trick from Krystian Drozdz in the West Suburban Gold victory.
