Overcooked food triggers Lake in the Hills apartment fire
Overcooked food on a stove triggered a fire early Saturday morning at a Lake in the Hills apartment complex.
Firefighters from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills responded about 2:45 a.m. to an alarm at 325 Tecumseh Trail, authorities said.
All of the residents were able to escape and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters said they found a third-floor unit filled with smoke and quickly extinguished the fire.
A damage estimate was not immediately available, but authorities said it is expected to be significant.
Fire departments from Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Huntley, Marengo and Wauconda assisted.
