Roselle welcomes home soldier
U.S. Army Specialist Patrick Mooney got a hero's welcome Wednesday, returning to his father's house in Roselle after a year in Afghanistan. Mooney, the member of a transportation unit, returned with his comrades to the U.S. a few days ago, and then they traveled to Lake Station, Ind. Wednesday, for a ceremony.
Afterward, a Patriot Guard unit escorted Mooney, 29, from Indiana to Roselle, where they were met by the Roselle and Bloomingdale police and fire departments who took them the rest of the way.
The royal reception was organized by VFW Post 5151 in Streamwood, where Mooney is a member. His father, Don said Mooney graduated from Elk Grove High School, where the family used to live. He turned 30 on Thursday.
