German beer brewing at Spring Valley’s Heritage Farm

Learn about German beer brewing on Schaumburg’s living history farm.

Schaumburg Park District will offer the opportunity to learn about the age old art of beer brewing from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, at Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.

“German Beer Brewing combines the historical technique of using all natural ingredients with present day America’s love for foreign and specialty beers,” said Farm Operations coordinator Evan Zimmerman. “The program teaches participants techniques for beer brewing so they can even try it on their own.”

This new program will be a thirst quenching experience for any beer connoisseur. Participants will learn a brief history of German-American breweries in the Midwest, brewing techniques and sample different styles of German beers.

The fee for this program is $22 for residents and $27 for nonresidents. Participants must be age 21 and up.
