Learn about the life cycle of a milkshake at Heritage Farm.

The annual Mowing and Mooing will be held noon to 4 p.m., June 26, at Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.

Visitors to the 1880s farm can watch draft horses mow hayfields, help with the harvest, churn butter, make farmer’s cheese, milk the cow and cool off with homemade ice cream.

“Mowing and Mooing allows visitors to see how many dairy products are made,” said Conservation Services manager Dave Brooks.

Additional activities include crafts and games. Grilled food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Admission is $2 per person, $8 for families of six or fewer and $2 for each additional member. It’s free for children ages 3 and younger.

Parking is available at the Vera Meineke Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. A free wagon shuttle is available to transport guests to Heritage Farm.
