Boys volleyball / Lake County roundup

Eduard Ciobanu clobbered 14 kills and posted 2 blocks, as Warren’s boys volleyball team completed North Suburban Conference action with a 25-20, 25-18 win over Zion-Benton.

Warren (22-11), Vernon Hills and Stevenson all finished 9-1 in the NSC.

Dillon Schaefer added 6 kills, 3 blocks and 2 aces for Warren. Tyler Smith dished out 24 assists, while Drew Crawford contributed 6 kills and 4 digs. King Gorospe recorded 9 digs for the Blue Devils.

Stevenson d. Libertyville: Nik Antonijevic had 14 kills and Danny Gescheidle added 11, as the Patriots kept pace with Warren and Vernon Hills by outlasting the Wildcats 25-19, 23-25, 27-25 in a North Suburban thriller.

Stevenson (29-5, 9-1) also received 30 assists and 3 aces from Zachary Kravits. Darien Wu hustled for 17 digs for the Patriots.

Libertyville (21-15, 4-5) received 14 kills from Eric Handrich. Matt Tassler and Stefan Vidovich added six and five, respectively.

Teddy Kopacz set 86 of 89 with 32 assists.

Vernon Hills d. Lake Forest: Martin Niemczewski’s 7 kills helped the Cougars win 25-22, 25-16 and finish tied for first with Warren and Stevenson in the North Suburban Conference.

Vernon Hills (30-4, 9-1) received 6 kills apiece from Garrett Kubacki and Thomas Robinson. Justin Opitz lofted 16 assists.

Henry Lamp had 6 kills for Lake Forest (15-14, 6-4).

Mundelein d. Antioch: Jamie Jahen slammed 7 kills, Parker Tortorello and Corey Flores had six apiece, and the Mustangs won 25-19, 25-23 in North Suburban action.

Mundelein (15-15, 5-5) also got 24 assists from Joey Timmerman.
