Vote now for new D300 logo
The 10 semifinalists for the Community Unit District 300 logo design contest have been selected.
Now, it is up to the public to decide which design will represent the Carpentersville-based district in the future.
The public will determine the three finalists by voting online or at school by June 1. Students will vote at school and the general public is invited to vote for their favorite design at surveymonkey.com/s/CUSD300logo.
Voting is limited to one per person and the identities of the designers will remain anonymous.
“We want to make it about the design and not the designer,” District 300 spokeswoman Allison Strupeck said.
District leaders will then determine the overall winner from the three finalists. The winner will be announced in August. Strupeck said the design will be introduced gradually as the district replaces items bearing the district’s logo.
“The district is entering a new chapter in its history,” Strupeck said. “We want to develop a new strategic plan that will help develop that next chapter. A new logo will represent the district’s future.”
The district received 87 submissions from 60 designers, including students, parents and staff members.
“Many times, when a company or organization recreates its brand by adopting a new logo they use a professional graphic design artist,” Strupeck said. “But we wanted to make the process much more community driven and not by a design person who may not have any personal stake in the district.”
