Hanover Twp. honors Sunnydale principal

Denise Lockwald, principal of Sunnydale Elementary School in Elgin Area District U-46, has been selected as the Principal of the Year for Hanover Township. The Hanover Township Committee on Youth hosted a reception in her honor May 3.

Denise has served the families of Sunnydale since 2004. As principal, she brings a commitment to her students and her staff. She often can be found spending time in classrooms, working with her staff to meet the needs of their 423 students.

Denise meets with groups of students on a regularly to encourage them as their mentor or to just enjoy time with them. She hosts coffees, curriculum nights, picnics and other events to encourage the involvement of her parents and families.
